RAD Analysis: RADON
|
Becquerel has provided analysis for radon in air for over 20 years. We are the only laboratory in Canada that is ISO17025 accredited for two independent techniques. We provide both short-term (2 day) charcoal canisters and electret detectors for longer term testing (1 week to 1 year).
Radon in Air
For rapid assessment, we recommend...
| Radionuclide |
Method |
Equipment |
Detection Limit |
| Radon-222 | BQ-RAD-GAMMA | Charcoal Canister | 10 Bq/cu.m |
For longer term evaluation, we recommend...
| Radionuclide |
Method |
Equipment |
Detection Limit |
| Radon-222 | BQ-RAD-ELECTRET | Electret Detector |
10 Bq/cu.m |
The Canadian (Health Canada) regulatory guideline for residences recommends retesting with a view to possible remedial action if the level is above 200 Becquerels per cubic metre.
Government of Canada Radon Guideline.
The guideline for other buildings and workplaces is 800 Bq/cu.m.

For Rapid Assessment or Long Term Evaluation
"We recommend using radon canisters for a quick assessment of the radon level. This can be followed up by the longer term measurement that is recommended by Health Canada."
